A marketing plan based on attraction rather than promotion

da48e03ae7a04796ad84f110l_aa240_The 11th Tradition of Alcoholics Anonymous  states in part that “Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion.” It is a policy that has worked well for A.A., and for the sake of the well-being of MyMindshare, I think it would be an excellent basis for the marketing of MyMindshare.

Instead of putting time and effort into promotion, I would rather put time and effort into attraction — to becoming more attractive. In a sense, this is inward-looking marketing, and for an introvert such as myself, this is much more appealing than trying to go out into the world and draw attention to MyMindshare.

However, this doesn’t mean disengaging from the world. It does mean a few things:

  • I am powerless over the results of my marketing actions.
  • If my marketing actions don’t get the desired results, then I need to change something in myself, or in MyMindshare (I need to make it more attractive).
  • It is VERY counterproductive and negative to blame or complain about something or somebody outside of myself. Such negativity is very unattractive.
